Forestry Update

Chief Robert Levi of the Big Cove Reserve asks to be arrested for cutting wood on Crown Land leases in New Brunswick. The following is a photo-essay.

After one whole year where Big Cove Band members struggled in their fight against the governments of Canada and the Province of New Brunswick; without the Big Cove Band Council's financial, moral and legal support - they fought to protect their aboriginal and treaty rights to access resources found within Mi'kmaq territory. Chief Robert Levi now argues that Mi'kmaq have a treaty right to access wood and sell it according to the Marshall decision.
